It is better for Karunanidhi to follow Mulayam Singh in politics.

On Saturday 10-3-2012 Samajwadi Party senior leader Azam Khan stood up to make a short speech proposing Akhilesh as the youngest UP chief minister. The conference hall in the party office on Vikramiditya Marg was packed with some 200 newly-elected MLAs and some MPs. “Akhilesh,” said Azam Khan, “is young. And Netaji (Mulayam) wants to spend more time in Delhi. Aur haar baap ki khwahish hoti hai ki unka beta tarakki kare… (And every father wants his son to do well).” This is for our former Chief Minister Karunanithi to follow the footstep of Mulayam Singh for leaving his leadership to his son instead of his argument on Dravidan and Aryan policy.
Almost on cue, Mulayam’s brother, Shivpal Yadav, stood up to second the proposal. “Hamko bahut khushi hogi agar hamara bhatija CM bane (I will be very happy if my nephew becomes chief minister).”
With this, the crown passed smoothly to the architect of SP’s victory, 38-year-old Akhilesh Yadav, marking a generational shift in the state’s politics. The swearing-in is scheduled for March 15 on the La Martiniere school grounds.
Akhilesh Yadav’s election for the top post was followed by a thunderous clapping of the newly-elected MLAs and senior leaders of the party. As his name was announced, Akhilesh touched the feet of his 73-year-old father Mulayam Singh Yadav to take his blessings.
Atleast from now seeing Mulayam Singh proposing his son for Chief Minister post, it is better for Karunanidhi to change his mind and to leave his leadership of the party to his son.
