M.G.R. and Shivaji Ganesan donated to Vayalur Murugan Temple as requested by Kirubananda Variyar.
Kirubananda Variyar an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga, spent all his money earned thro his devotional discourses for the renovation of Lord Murugan Temples in Tamil Nadu . Once the Contractors of Valaur Murugan Temple approached him for Rupees. 65,000 for completing the Temple work.
Variyar immediately went to Chinnappa Thevar the film producer and the ardent devote of Lord Muruga and he gave him Rupees six thousand and then he went along with him to M.G.R. who gave him Ten thousand rupees and then he went Shivaji Ganesan and he gave Ten thousand and one Rupees and from others he collected the Sixty five thousand Rupees and handed over it to the Contractors to complete the Vayalur Murugan Temple work.
Even during travel out of town, Variyar had the habit of taking the pooja box along with him. He did pooja continuously for 57 years without a break of even a day. MGR (M.G. Ramachandran ex-Chief Minister of TamilNadu/actor) had many titles but the one used by many is Pon mana Chemmal (means "The noble man with the golden heart"). It was conferred to MGR by Variyar himself.
We must also cultivate the good habits from Kirubananda Variyar by donating a small amount of our earned money towards the work connected with renovation of old Temples, by that way we can get the blessings of the almighty.
